Activity Report: Spooktacular Walk & Halloween Social

Completed 10/29/11 with 128 participants
One hundred twenty-eight community members participated in a 1-3 mile non-competitive walk. Children also participated in pinata breaking and pumpkin decorating. Community Health Nursing provided diabetes screening.
Best Features:
Many participants dressed in Halloween costumes for the theme of the event.
Creative Features:
All participants who participated received a clip-on blinking light for walking at night and hand tally counter for tracking their laps...all promoting physical activity.
Challenges:
Planning outdoor events this time of year is always risky in Wisconsin, so we had to have a back up indoor location in case of rain/snow/extreme cold.
Lessons Learned
Making fitness center track & equipment available if weather conditions weren't cooperative.Views: 282
