Activity Report: 2012 Zoo Run/Walk

Completed 5/6/12 with 20 participants

The Native Health Initiative (NHI), Wings of America, and Indian Health Service ABQ Area Health Promotion Disease Prevention partnered to celebrate the gift of being active through running and walking at the annual Albuquerque (ABQ) zoo run! We had a pot luck after the run in the nearby park and shared stories.  It was also a great opportunity to present the I.H.S. Health Promotion Disease Prevention ABQ area award to the Native Health Initiative's members as they were not able to receive the award at the I.H.S. ceremony on April 27, 2012.

Lessons Learned

A planning meeting or email prior to the event to find out who all registered or wanted to be a part of the group as it was hard to tell other than those who signed up for the 5k timed run. All in all it was a good, hot, and beautiful day for the event and great to meet families involved in health and wellness in the ABQ area. Good to run the 5k timed run. It was very hot and we had a flat course.
