Activity Report: I'd Walk A Mile for Fry Bread- Good Health

Completed 3/4/06 with 172 participants
On March 4, 2006 I'd Walk a Mile For Fry Bread/Good Health, a 1 or 2 mile walk/run was held at the Salina High School  track in Salina, Oklahoma.  The event started at 7:00 a.m. and concluded around 9:00 a.m..  The event had 172 participants regardless of the weather conditions (temperature-50 degrees, and occasional light rain).  The event was the first of it's kind in the area in a long while.  The participants commented that they enjoyed the event despite the weather and that they hoped to see another Walk/Run in the area soon.

Best Features:
The participants received t-shirts, exercise and diet information, and most of all, they received at least 30 minutes of exercise.

Creative Features:
The most creative thing I did was the development of the flyer and title.

Challenges:
The only challenge that I had was getting up at 5:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning.

Future Plans:
I would like to continue JMI events in our area but I would like to receive incentives from JMI. I requested water bottles for the event but received none.

Lessons Learned

This wasn't a group decision for me to get up that early.
