The Inter Tribal Council of Arizona, Inc. Diabetes Nutrition Coordinator provides technical assistance regarding nutrition to tribal governments and the Phoenix Area Indian Health Service (IHS) in support of tribal and IHS diabetes programs. The coordinator also facilitates communication on the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes for the Tribes in Arizona, Nevada, and Utah. Coordination services include facilitating communication, collaboration and cooperation among Indian Health Service, tribal and urban Indian (ITU) nutrition programs.

Program Purpose:
The Inter Tribal Council of Arizona, Inc. Diabetes Nutrition Coordinator provides technical assistance regarding nutrition to tribal governments and the Phoenix Area Indian Health Service (IHS) in support of tribal and IHS diabetes programs. The coordinator also facilitates communication on the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes for the Tribes in Arizona, Nevada, and Utah. Coordination services include facilitating communication, collaboration and cooperation among Indian Health Service, tribal and urban Indian (ITU) nutrition programs.

Program Key Features:
The Program is carried out through technical assistance and training besides presentations to various groups upon request. Information is distributed by mail, e-mail and in person. The coordinator also participates on various statewide regional councils and committees related to nutrition and physical activity.
