General Exercise

We have several: * Circuit and Yoga ball classes, * Fitness Walks where participants interval walk and make several stops throughout the walk for resistance exercises like band moves (they carry their bands with them), squats, lunges, etc., * We work with kids in the village schools teaching flat bands and jump rope activities. * TREK Kodiak- a twelve week activity and walking program tracking steps which educates people on various health related topics like fitness, diet, and other related issues using mini lessons called fit tips incorporating Alutiiq language lessons as well as village biographies as they do a virtual walk around the island of Kodiak between villages.

Program Purpose:
We wish to convey that living a healthy life is easy, and people can incorporate things they do already in their daily lives with just minor adjustments.

Program Key Features:
* Circuit and Yoga Ball classes are held twice daily Mon., Wed., and Fri. at the Wellness Center Gym. * Fitness walks are held at noon Mon., Wed., and Fri. on walking trails near the gym. * The kids' activities occur at the village schools when we travel to them periodically throughout the year. * Trek Kodiak uses mailings and displays at the gym for the weekly tips. People keep a log of steps made throughout the day (using pedometers) which they report to us on a weekly basis so we can compile the distance.
