Walking

Pedometer program based on Oakland IHC "On the Move" program. Also presenting Bayer program, "Know Your Healthy Steps" for those with a diagnosis of diabetes.

Tribes Involved:
All federally recognized Indian tribes residing in Placer, Sierra, Nevada and Yolo counties.

Location:
Community
In three localities -- Auburn, Grass Valley and Woodland, CA.

Program Purpose:
Lower the incidence of chronic disease through physical activity.

Program Key Features:
Twelve week program includes daily logging of pedometer steps taken and fruit and vegetables eaten. Cooking classes will be offered if funding allows. Grant pending.
