Activity Report: Jim Thorpe 5K Run
350 participants in all the events, 5k, walking, 1k kids run and 300 meter toddler dash.
This was an event to honor, Jim Thorpe, who is considered one of the greatest athlete's of all time, and is a Sac, Fox and Pottawatomi tribal member. The Jim Thorpe run is also the Native American Championships for the 5K distance and 12 National Champions from 6 age categories were crowned. Also included with the event is the honoring of a tribal member for the lifetime of dedicated service to Native Communities in the area of Health, Wellness, Athletics, Fitness and Holistic lifestyles. This year's honoree was, Theresa Clay, Dine tribal member, and currently employed by the Indian Health Service.
Lessons LearnedOne of the most exciting things to happen was a family of four generations all participating in one of the events together.
